The Passionate One is in Audio! And it’s Free.

I am way late to the party on audio books. (Also, very late updating this site, but that’s another story.) Anyway, we’re getting there. The Passionate One is available in audio on YouTube and it’s free!

Erin put Matt firmly in the friend zone. But he’s not taking no for an answer.

As the creator of the Billionaire Bride Pact, Erin Parker is determined to see it through. And now that superstar actor Brennan Avery has been cast as her costar in a play destined for Broadway, things couldn’t be better. But Erin’s best friend, Matt Walters, isn’t ready to give up on her. He has a plan to escape the friend zone and prove to Erin that there are more important things than money and fame.

I loved writing this book and going through the audio has made me love it all over again. Erin is kind of a sticky character and coaxing her through her personal growth was challenging. She is impulsive and tends to look before she leaps, but most of her troubles come from her big heart and her desire to help others.

Matt is a perfect foil for Erin’s flightiness. He’s calm and steady and always willing to help Erin get out of her predicaments. In so many ways, he is modeled after my husband, Dan. I am not quite so flighty as I used to be, but Dan has had to get me out of a fair number of fixes–always with his gentle, patient smile. I wouldn’t be here without him.

Writing this book was a bit of my love letter to him, an acknowledgement of all he does for me and how much I love and cherish him.

Narrated by the fantastic Emma Faye.

Did you know that most of my books are free for Kindle Unlimited users? One of my most downloaded books is The Passionate One, Book 1 in my Billionaire Bride Pact series. Check it out!

The Passionate One – now in paperback!

The Passionate One is now in paperback! Check it out …

Wahoo! It’s so exciting when that proof copy shows up in the mail! I don’t have many of my books formatted for print yet, but I’m working on it. The Rebellious One will be next and so on until I get the whole Billionaire Bride Pact done. Cami Checketts already has all six of her BBP books in paperback and mine will be the same size and formatting as hers, so if you are collecting the series, they should all match.

Should. The operative word there unless I mess something up.

The glass disc next to the book is important. I took glass blowing lessons when I was researching this story and the disc was the result of a bit of molten glass dripping onto the concrete. It’s perfectly smooth and SO cool! My own personal worry stone.

Romance with HEART

Romance with HEART

With every story, I write, I spend hours brainstorming, researching, outlining, developing characters, drafting, and, inevitably, deleting thousands of words that end up going nowhere.

And eventually … somewhere in that process … something incredible happens and I find the heart of the story. That little bit of magic that makes it come alive and turns it from words on my computer screen into something real. That thing that gives in breath and makes in unique from any other story I’ve written.

Sometimes I find the heart of the story right away, like in The Passionate One. Sometimes it takes longer. I deleted almost thirty thousand words from The Ambitious One and rewrote the entire second half when it just didn’t seem to work.  Sometimes I still haven’t found it. I’ve been promising you the final book in The Billionaire Bride Pact for months. But The Heartbroken One is still sitting in draft form, whispering for me to dig a little deeper, to find the heart of Nikki and Darrin’s story.

Short romances are a quick-turn market. I wish I could write as fast as some of my colleagues and release a book every four or six weeks. But, everyone has their own process and this is mine. I can’t get excited about something until I’ve put my heart into it and in doing so, found it’s heart in return.

So when looking at a little branding tweak, Romance with Heart seemed appropriate to me. What do you think?

Billionaire Bride Pact Recipes

Billionaire Bride Pact Recipes

The Billionaire Bride Pact books all feature recipes that are special to the characters in one way or another. Of them all, Rosa’s cornbread is my favorite and is perfect with a big bowl of chili on a cold winter night!

The Passionate One: Matt’s Mug Brownies

When Erin blows a big audition in The Passionate One, her best friend Matt whips up a mug brownie to make her feel better.

Matt’s Mug Brownies

3 Tbs all purpose flour
3 Tbs brown sugar
2 Tbs cocoa powder
3 Tbs vegetable oil
3 Tbs water
1 pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients together in a microwave safe mug. Microwave 45-60 seconds or until firm. Do not overcook. Top with your favorite toppings: peanut butter, whipped cream, ice cream, nuts, etc.

Cooking times will vary greatly depending on your microwave and the type of mug you use so always keep a close eye on your brownie while cooking.

The Adventurous One: Empanadas

Taylor has traveled all over the world and sampled many different types of food. She especially loved the empanadas she found in Mexico right before she had to rush home to be with her ailing grandmother in The Adventurous One.

Genuine Mexican Empanadas

15-20 apples, membrillos (quince), or peaches depending on the size of fruit
2 lbs of sugar
1 cinnamon stick

Peel, cut and take out seeds from the fruit. Put a pot on medium heat, add fruit and sugar and mix till sugar starts to melt, then put in a stick of cinnamon. Stir constantly so it does not stick to the pot, lower heat if necessary and keep stirring. As soon as you see the fruit falling apart, turn off heat, take out cinnamon stick and mash well with potato masher. Filling has to have a jelly like consistency. Set aside.

2 lbs of flour
1 can or 12 oz of evaporated milk
2 large eggs
1 box of Maizena or 14 oz regular corn starch (Maizena found in the Hispanic food aisle)
1 Tbs of yeast
3 cups of sugar
2 Tbs of vanilla extract
1 lb lard

In a large mixing bowl, knead the lard till soft, and then add eggs, sugar and vanilla extract and mix well. Mix in flour, yeast and Maizena and mix well, then start pouring in the evaporated mix till you get a nice dough feel. Make ping pong size balls out  of the dough and set aside.

Roll a ball of dough into 1/8 inch thick and cut with round, medium size cookie cutter. Fill with one tablespoon of the filling on one side and fold dough over the filling to make a half circle. With a fork, press the edges of the dough to seal top and bottom edges together.

Set empanadas on a cookie sheet, heat oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 15-20 min, or till golden brown.

The Glamorous One: Soda Fountain Shenanigans

There is no recipe for The Glamorous One because Kynley was too busy touring and writing music to cook. But she and Dalton had fun messing around with the add-ins at a gas station soda fountain, so of course I researched that. I recommend vanilla or cherry, but not in the fruit punch.

The Ambitious One: Lindsey’s Snickerdoodle Cupcakes

In The Ambitious One, Lindsey has spent years perfecting her recipes for Sugarbee’s, her specialty cupcake store in downtown Manhattan. Her snickerdoodle cupcakes are customer favorites.

1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)

2 eggs, room temp.
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 almond extract
3/4 c. milk, whole or 2 percent

Preheat oven to 350. Whisk first four dry ingredients, make sure there are no clumps. Combine remaining wet ingredients in a separate bowl before mixing in with dry ingredients. Pour batter into liners and bake for 20-25 min.

Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
